Leadership Training to Combat HIV/AIDS April 5-9, 2004 in Kchach Meas Hotel, Sihanoukville
The National Aids Authority, NAA, organized the 3rd session of the 2nd
round of Leadership For Result of the HIV/AIDS Initiative of Cambodia,
supported by the United Nations Development Program. The session brought
together 120 people together from all level of life in Cambodia. Ms.
Thida C. Khus, SILAKA’s Executive Director, participated as a
simultaneous translator and facilitator for the session.
The leadership program composed of 3 -5 days sessions, aimed at
strengthening the leadership capacity of Cambodian participants in
moving toward social change toward combating the spread of HIV/AIDS in
the Kingdom of Cambodia. The first session covers the orientation,
concepts of changes, human personality, emotional intelligence and
building up future vision. The second session covers the gender issues
around sexuality, and planning for changes. Finally the third session
contains the communication and feedback and future personal leadership
change plan. The program called for intermission activities where the
groups organized and implement activities aimed at changing the
attitudes of their target groups. The session is organized and
facilitated by the Teleo Leadership Institute group from Philadelphia,
USA.
Mrs. Thida Khus has participated with the leadership program in the
first round session, under the management of the country UNDP. She was
also interviewed as one of the leaders for a leadership marketing
program during the session. She spoke of her experiences and what the
training has done for her as an individual and leader in the Cambodian
community. The NAA is currently planning for the 3 round of leadership
session.
