2. Objectives and Activities
Metathor/ CTP’s Objectives
-
To strengthen the capacity
of civil society and local authorities in understanding conflict dynamics,
analyzing conflict, and in using constructive conflict resolution methods,
such as facilitation and conciliation to solve disputes.

To support networking among
local actors to facilitate cooperative learning and working in the field of
conflict transformation and peace-building.

To strengthen the capacity of civil
society and local authorities in understanding decentralization
processes and defining their role within this process, and advocate on
behalf of their community to facilitate development progress.

To strengthen the capacity of civil
society and local authorities to understand legislation most relevant
for the Cambodian villagers, such as land, fishery and forestry law.

To educate the public about conflict,
active non-violence, conflict transformation and peace-building through
awareness raising and research.
Metathor/CTP's Activities
CTP provides training in:
- Conflict understanding, analysis, and conflict Resolution
- Communication
- Active Non-violence
- Decentralized commune administration system and participation
- Gender awareness
- Selected law (land/forestry/fishery/family)
- Basic planning & leadership
- Mindful Peace-building (incl. Buddhist Meditation)
CTP also facilitates implementation assignments (activity planning),
provides follow-up support to participants, and promotes networking and
cooperation among former participants and organizations.
CTP addresses primarily Cambodian NGOs, local authorities and government
departments, local leaders and Buddhist monks in the provinces and in Phnom
Penh.
