Title:    Workshop on Freedom of Information

Objectives:

• To educate awareness amongst the participants on what FOI is and why it is important for the organizations and institutes they work for and the communities and groups they serve
• To share FOI best practices, identify current problems related to the lack of FOI in Cambodia, identify possible solution to FOI issue, and share the RGC’s position on FOI in Cambodia;
• To advocate for future action on the RGC’s FOI

Summary Outcome:

The FOI works was actively participate by Government officers, Non Government Organization, Media agencies and Private sector in presenting and discussion on the important of FOI and Civil society sector, FOI and Private sector, Role the media in DOI, Best practice of FOI, Royal Government of Cambodia action/position, Case studies related to issues of high concern in Cambodia, and the Role of NGOs in advocating FOI with meaning full question and answer on each topic. At the end of the workshop we were discuss and agree on

• Strategy to promote Cambodia to have FOI law
• Activities of civil society, private sector , and media agencies in urging government rush to develop and approve FOI law
